Groundbreaking Ceremony for Lacey Education and Family (LEAF) Center

You're invited to join North Thurston Public Schools at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Lacey Education and Family (LEAF) Center!

• When: 3:30 to 4 pm on Monday, March 30 
• Where: On the corner of Marvin and Steilacoom Roads (the old Bucknell Field)
•  What: Celebrate the beginning of construction on the Lacey Education and Family (LEAF) Center with a short groundbreaking ceremony!

The LEAF Center is a new community resource that, when it opens in fall 2027, will: 

• Serve up to 600 students annually with high-quality indoor and outdoor preschool spaces. 
• Offer family-friendly spaces for parenting classes and community health and wellness support.
• Provide a commercial kitchen for serving students’ nutritional needs. 

Voters approved the LEAF Center as part of the 2024 Capital Levy for Safety, Technology, and Facilities Improvement. The building is designed to accommodate a variety of early learning programs. By working with community partners, North Thurston Public Schools is exploring future additions, such as a splash pad, library space, indoor recreation, and creative play spaces, to support family-based physical activity.
